Shelve System 01 

A study in precision and restraint, this modular shelving system by Ties van Benten is constructed entirely from 4mm aluminium sheets — laser-cut and folded into form. Each element maintains structural clarity through its simplicity: horizontal planes intersect with vertical supports, creating compartments that feel both rigid and light.


The system is available in a set of standardized variations — one to four shelves in three widths — allowing it to adapt fluidly to different domestic or work settings. The shelfs balances visual calm with functional clarity: books and objects are suspended on a quiet grid, floating just off the wall.


Despite its industrial materiality, the piece reads as elegant and architectural. Edges are crisp, surfaces matte, and fasteners exposed without fuss. Nothing is concealed, yet everything is resolved — a logic that makes the system as conceptually honest as it is physically minimal.


More than furniture, this is a spatial component: scalable, repeatable, and precise.
