Two new features this time — one house, one apartment — and the larger of the two hooks in the shop.

House for Camping
Patchwork Architecture · Abel Tasman National Park, New Zealand
Rather than clear new ground, Patchwork Architecture set this house inside an existing clearing in a regenerating beech-podocarp forest and organised it as a courtyard type: rooms gathered under one expansive corrugated-steel roof, carried on slender steel posts and diagonal bracing.
Deep verandas frame the courtyard and are linked by open timber decking, with covered outdoor sleeping areas for tents alongside the bedrooms, living spaces and an outdoor shower. Interiors are dark-stained timber, anchored by a freestanding stainless-steel kitchen island. The house runs entirely off-grid, on its own power and collected water. Photography by Simon Wilson.

An enclosed three-bedroom apartment from the early 2000s, opened up into a luminous two-bedroom residence. Moving the kitchen made room for the project's governing gesture: a continuous built-in element that begins as kitchen cabinetry and resolves, without interruption, into a display shelving system.
Giving up one bedroom bought an expansive walk-in wardrobe and a raised reading platform. Custom joinery in wood veneer and lacquer carries the warmth; marble runs through as a connective thread, appearing as continuous skirting, kitchen surfaces and bathroom detailing. Photography by Willem Pab.

The larger of the two. Same single bent sheet of solid 304 stainless steel, same wavy silhouette read as a sketch — with multiple natural grooves, so a coat, a scarf, a bag and a hat each get their own place instead of competing for one.
